Originally from Kent County Julie chose to open Atelier on Kent Island to meet the need for a high end, Aveda concept location to serve the growing population. After twenty years in the industry Julie found her specialty in working with curly hair as has received training from both DevaCurl and Aveda. Julie is a mother of 4 with three of her children working with her in the salon and has been married to her husband, Bill, for 27 years.

Jami Pott

Jami began her career in the beauty industry as a counter manager and makeup artist at the Nordstrom of Annapolis. Jami spent time working in Crofton after graduating from Graham Webb Academy before making the move to joining the Atelier team. Jami believes in the wellness of the whole and found the Aveda belief system to be both familiar and comforting. Jami specializes in hand painting techniques and balayge and calls Stevensville home for both her and her daughter.

Evelyn Youell

A graduate of the Graham Webb Academy of Arlington, Virginia Evelyn is a native of Kent Island. Evelyn spent time after graduation working as a stylist in colorist in Miami, Florida before returning to Maryland. Evelyn joined our team on the suggestion of her sister Sydney Youell, a seasoned member at Atelier and has received extensive training with Aveda. She now acts as the assistant director of the salon. Evelyn specializes in precision cutting.

Ally Vazquez

A native of Kent Island, Ally graduated from KIHS and went on to work for a number of years as a manager of Big Bats Cafe in Stevensville. Deciding to follow her dream of working in the beauty industry, Ally attended Graham Webb Academy. She joined the team soon after graduating as a stylist, colorist and spa therapist and enjoys doing color transformations and the precision work of men’s cutting.

Sydney Youell

A graduate of Graham Webb Academy, Sydney grew up in the Kent Island community. After finishing her education, she worked in local salons creating a reputation for herself. Sydney quickly became a key team member and later invited her sister, Evelyn, to join Atelier. Sydney has trained under owner Julie Hartman to become a curl specialist and also specializes in fashion color applications and bombshell blondes. She is the mother to a beautiful daughter.

Ashley-Nicole Neighoff

Originally from Easton, Ashley-Nicole relocated to Pasadena as a child. Traveling to and from the Eastern Shore for long weekends and family vacations, Ashley-Nicole settled back on the shore in Stevensville with her fiance when it came time to buy a home. Ashley-Nicole attended Avara’s Academy of Dundalk Maryland and received training as a barber and a stylist. She enjoys performing hot shaves and also enjoys creative color makeovers.

Ashley Calderone

Originally from Texas, Ashley relocated to Kent Island in high school and eventually went on to attend Graham Webb Academy of Virginia. Ashley began her career at Swan Cove Salon Spa of Stevensville and later Lehman Larue in Chester before coming to Atelier. Since joining the Atelier team, Ashley has received training in Aveda color and styling. Ashley specializes in razor cutting as well as highlighting and spends her time off with her son.

Johnene Beisel

With family ties in Delaware, Johnene considered Florida, where she attended school at Lorraine’s Academy in St. Petersburg Florida, home for a number of years. After the untimely passing of her fiance, Johnene moved to Kent Island to be closer to family. Fully Aveda trained, Johnene joined the Atelier team loves doing blowouts and considers Pure Abundance Style Prep and Control Force among her favorite products. She and her young daughter call Stevensville home.

Samantha Hartman

After building a business for herself in high school doing prom and event makeup, Samantha went on to receive training with MAC cosmetics and was mentored by Aveda Creative Director Janele Geason. She currently acts as Director of Spa Services overseeing the domains of skin, body and nails. Samantha holds certifications in a number of extension techniques and has developed a specialty in working with them.

Kerry McWilliams Shek

With twenty years of experience in massage therapy, Kerry began her career and built a solid reputation in the Kent Island area. Much of her career was spent working in the medical field and she specializes in multimodality therapeutic massage techniques meant to seek out and correct problems with the whole by addressing pressure points and areas of tension.

Stephanie Downey

Originally from Pasadena, Stephanie has been localized to the eastern shore in Centreville for the past ten years. After attending school at the Chesapeake School of Esthetics Stephanie began working at Studio 2 in Easton. Deciding to take a position closer to her home in Centreville, Stephanie took a position with Atelier. Stephanie’s favorite product in the Aveda skincare family is the Radiant Oleation Oil from Aveda’s newest Tulasara line.

Shelly Holden

Living in Easton, Shelly began her career as a nail therapist at the Pressley Academy in Dover Delaware. After graduation and licensure she took a position in Cambridge as a full time nail therapist. Seeking more flexibility to spend time with her daughter and grandchildren, Shelly joined the team at Atelier performing manis, pedis and nail enhancements.

Sam Snoberger

A graduate of the Queen Anne’s County High School cosmetology and career placement program, Sam holds a full license in cosmetology including hair, body and skincare. After exploring all of the facets of the industry, Sam found her calling in nails and is highly skilled in the art of nail design. She is Aveda trained in the rituals of renewal that make Aveda a unique systems and enjoys offering these moments of wellness to her guests.

Taylor Hicks

Hailing originally from just over the bay bridge, Taylor has built her life on the Eastern Shore. After graduating from the Maryland School of Beauty in Essex, Maryland Taylor took a position as a nail therapist at Glow Salon and Spa in Annapolis, Maryland. Taylor ultimately joined the spa therapy team at Atelier upon moving to Chester doing Aveda manicures and pedicures. She specializes in modern acrylic enhancements and intricate nail designs and enjoys cooking and baking

Colleen Kelly Sweet

Hailing from Bladensberg Colleen received her training under master stylist Liz Sarvinas of Ell Hair & Body in Bowie Maryland shortly after finishing high school. Colleen spent several years working as a stylist in the area before relocating her family to the Eastern Shore in 2002. After nearly a decade in the industry she identified her strengths in working specifically with men’s hair and dedicated her career to delivering high performance men’s cuts. She joined the team at Atelier in 2016 as a welcomed grooming expert.

Guest Services

Marshal Hartman

creative director, salon director

A child of the beauty industry, Marshal acts as the creative director and salon coordinator for Atelier. Additionally Marshal has received Reiki III Master certification and performs Usui reiki awakening and balancing rituals. With a background in graphic design and marketing, and experience in merchandising for luxury lifestyle brands, Marshal brings an aesthetic eye to the salon as well as managing and coordinating all in-salon education. He handles all of the salon marketing as well as keeping a tight quality control on the brand image.

Lizzy Hayden


From Kent Island, Lizzy is a student at KIHS. Lizzy is an avid cheerleader and cheers for her high school team and enjoys visiting the beach in the summer. As a reflection of that Lizzy loves big, beachy waves. She works with our team as an attendant and an experience specialist assisting our technicians and performing rituals of renewal.

Kate Hartman

With a background in varied disciplines, Kate brings a variety of expertises and experiences with her. After spending several years in the retail market flipping properties Kate and her husband Michael settled in Centreville. After assisting with the build out and design of Atelier’s new location, Kate joined the team permanently as lead attendant, ensuring that all fine details of guest experience are addressed.

Sabrina Hartman


Hardly a newcomer to the beauty industry, Sabrina spent her infancy in the salon atmosphere. She acts as coordinator for the salon making guest reservations, performing rituals of renewal and managing the phone system and front desk. She has been a member of our team since opening and spends her time off advocating for heightened awareness of type one diabetes.

Helena Walker


Originally from Kent Island, Helena spent her childhood growing up on the shore with the unique culture that living on an island fosters. After attending schooling for Office Administration and Hospitality Management Helena spent time living in California with her young son. When she returned to Kent Island she joined our team as a coordinator, working to assist guests in our experience center.
